N.C. A&T Launches Aggie Media to Advance Multimedia Education, Global Reach

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 13, 2026) – Student-produced journalism and multimedia work at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has a new route to national and global audiences with the launch of Aggie Media.

Developed by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JOMC) in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the platform showcases content from advanced-level coursework, student media and the department across web, mobile and streaming platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon Fire and Roku TV.

“We live in a time when streaming media is integrated into smartphones and smart TVs,” said Masudul Biswas, Ph.D., JOMC chair. “Audiences can access and view content from virtually anywhere, at their convenience and on their own time.”

Aggie Media grew from JOMC’s effort to increase the visibility of student and faculty work. After reviewing the department’s most recent accreditation site-team report, Biswas introduced the concept to faculty and staff in fall 2025, and their support helped to move it forward. By summer 2026, Biswas and Edwin Moye, JOMC multimedia coordinator and Aggie TV studio manager, were working together to set up the platform and complete onboarding.

Now live, Aggie Media can distribute news, entertainment shows, documentaries, podcasts, WNAA radio programming and educational content produced by students, faculty and staff.

“Having a streaming app can be an ambitious project since we need to challenge ourselves constantly to create more professional quality content for wide distribution beyond geographical boundaries that can reach both national and global audiences,” said Biswas.

That reach will also extend to one of the most exciting times of the year for Aggies. As A&T celebrates the centennial of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth, Aggie Media will feature a commemorative channel with on-demand content produced by JOMC students, including those with Aggie News and The A&T Register.

Faculty members have expressed plans to use their courses to create content for Aggie Media, providing additional opportunities for hands-on professional learning. Students will continue using the department’s television studio equipment and Adobe software in the media lab to develop content, while selected work moves through a content-selection process involving faculty, student media advisers and subject-matter experts. Students will also be able to include distributed work in their professional portfolios.

The project received Title III funding for its first five years to support experiential and hands-on learning.

Looking ahead, Biswas sees potential for Aggie Media to support future curriculum development in sports media, media studies and media entrepreneurship.
