Parking and Street Closures
The University Police Department will maintain traffic flow and street closures on many streets surrounding the campus for 2022 Homecoming events. We encourage parade and game attendees to review the following information. These closures take effect Saturday, Oct. 29, at 5 a.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30.
STREET CLOSURES
General public
The general public is encouraged to enter campus from East Market Street onto Laurel Street or Benbow Road. However, at 7 a.m., the Benbow Road entrance at East Market Street will close. “Unless you have a Silver, Orange, Purple, Pink, or Game Day Access Pass you will not be able to enter through this check point.”
Alternative Entrance Points for the Silver, Orange, Purple, Pink, and Game Day Access Passes are the following:
N. 29 they can take the Sullivan Exit to be able to gain access from that check point.
S. 29 they will need to take the exit Wendover Avenue East and take a left onto Arnold St. and make a left on the Bessemer Avenue and make a right onto Post Street and then a right onto Sullivan street to enter campus
The parking deck can be accessed through East Market and Laurel streets at all times.
From time to time, a complete vehicular closure may be temporarily necessary for safety reasons. Motorists are advised to use caution in these areas, expect delays and follow traffic signs and signals. Pedestrian access to the campus will be available from the side streets throughout the day.
TOTAL STREET CLOSURES
Gate City Boulevard at South Murrow Boulevard; North Elm Street starting at East Bessemer Avenue and ending at East Lindsay Street; East Fisher Avenue to North Murrow Boulevard; North Murrow Boulevard at East Friendly Avenue; North Murrow Boulevard at East Lindsay Street; East Lindsay Street at Cumberland Street; East Lindsay Street at Beech Street;East Lindsay Street/North Dudley Street/Yanceyville Street; East Lindsay Street at Banks Street; East Lindsay Street at Stewart Street; East Lindsay Street at Boyd Street; East Lindsay Street at Laurel Street; Sullivan Street at Benbow Road; Sullivan Street at Lindsay Street; Lindsay Street at Headquarters Drive.
FACULTY, STAFF & RESIDENT STUDENTS
To accommodate faculty, staff and resident students who need access to campus offices and residence halls, access will be allowed on Sullivan Street and Benbow Road by way of English Street and surrounding side streets (i.e., Huffman Street). All faculty, staff and resident student drivers will be required to show a valid Aggie OneCard at this entrance.
Note: Students living in Barbee, Vanstory, Morrow and Morrison residence halls will be allowed to enter the campus on North Dudley Street at Arthur Headen Drive starting at 11 a.m. until late evening. Resident student drivers will be required to show a valid Aggie OneCard at this entrance.
TAILGATERS AT LAUREL STREET LOT
The Laurel Street parking lot is located on Laurel Street at John Mitchell Drive. Because of street closures, tailgaters at the Laurel Street parking lot are encouraged to set up at 5:30 a.m. There will be no vehicle access to the Laurel Street parking lot after 7 a.m. Tailgaters are encouraged to enter campus from Sullivan Street toward North Benbow Road and turn right onto John Mitchell Drive before 7 a.m.
General Parking
Obermeyer Parking Deck on Laurel Street: The Obermeyer Parking Deck on Laurel Street is open for parking at the rate of $20 per day. Shuttle service will be provided to TRUIST Stadium.
TRUIST STADIUM PARKING/TAILGATING
Guest with credentials for Lot A3 and A4 should enter the stadium from Bessemer Avenue at Lindsay Street. Tickets along with Vendor/Tailgate Passes will be required to gain access at this entrance. All vehicle occupants must have a game day ticket.
DISABILITY PARKING
Limited disability parking is available at Lot 9, located at Benbow Road and Sullivan Street, for a cost of $20. Guests with disability parking passes should access this lot from Sullivan Street. A courtesy cart service is available to TRUIST Stadium. Overflow parking is available in campus General Parking areas. Take the shuttle service to TRUIST Stadium.
PARKING ON PRIVATE/ COMMERCIAL PROPERTY
Vehicles are encouraged to park in all available and non-restricted areas on campus. Vehicles parked on private/commercial property and parking lots are subject to towing at the request of the owner or tenant. Patrons may be subject to fines and/or towing fees. The university does not assume responsibility for these instances. Game attendees are encouraged to park on campus and use the shuttle services.
