EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 27, 2025) – Congressman Richard Hudson visited North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University to learn about the innovative research and technological advancements taking place on campus.
Hudson, who represents North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District, serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology and is a member of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Caucus.
Chancellor James R. Martin II and Oliver M. Thomas, Ph.D., ’06, associate vice chancellor of External Affairs welcomed Hudson during his March 20 visit. The tour began with College of Engineering (COE) Dean Stephanie Luster-Teasley Pass, Ph.D., ’96, at the Harold L. Martin Sr. Engineering Research and Innovation Complex, where discussions focused on artificial intelligence, engineering and automation.
“It was a pleasure to host Congressman Hudson and explore many topics where our interests intersect in ways that hold great promise for the people of North Carolina,” said Martin. “We will look forward to working with him in the future to the benefit of our students, the communities we serve and this great state.”
Hudson attended presentations from COE faculty including Kaushik Roy, Ph.D., in the Cybersecurity & Artificial Intelligence Lab; Ali Karimoddini, Ph.D., in the ACCESS (Autonomous Cooperative Control of Emergent Systems of Systems) Lab, where Hudson participated in a driving simulation; and Sun Yi, Ph.D., in the FIRST (Facility for Intelligent Sensing & Telepresence) Lab and the Holographic Studio.
“I am excited to represent one of the top universities in America right here at North Carolina A&T State University,” said Hudson. “I was so impressed by what the university is doing in areas like engineering, advanced computing, robotics and autonomous vehicles. Our students will be prepared to lead America into the future.”
Hudson and his team left A&T’s campus thrilled about the university’s advancements and its role as an economic driver for the state of North Carolina.Media Contact Information: avallen@ncat.edu
