Conference to Address Rural Roots, Connected Communities in Fast-Growing North Carolina

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 8, 2026) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is taking its centennial homecoming celebration to new heights with its first drone show, the Greatest Drone Show on Earth, Monday, Oct. 26, at 9 p.m. at Truist Stadium.
Presented in partnership with Visit Greensboro, the event will feature 300 synchronized drones illuminating the night sky in celebration of 100 years of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth.
The aerial display will honor the university’s rich history, cherished traditions and generations of Aggies who have made Homecoming one of the most celebrated traditions among historically Black colleges and universities. The event will bring students, alumni, faculty, staff and the greater Greensboro community together for a unique celebration of Aggie Pride.
The event will feature co-hosts Gerard Rankin Sr. ‘03 of 102 Jamz and N.C. A&T student Philip Colbert, along with a special performance by the Blue and Gold Marching Machine Band.
The partnership with Visit Greensboro highlights the university’s longstanding connection to the city and Homecoming’s significance as one of Greensboro’s major annual attractions. With an estimated 200,000 visitors expected for the centennial celebration, A&T’s homecoming serves as a major economic driver, attracting visitors from across the country, supporting local businesses and showcasing Greensboro as a destination for entertainment, culture and community.
