Terrence Jenkins ‘04 Named Centennial Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 29, 2026) — North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University announced today that Academy Award-winning producer, entertainment host and actor Terrence Jenkins ‘04, better known as Terrence J, will serve as grand marshal of the 100^th edition of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth parade Saturday, Oct. 31.

The parade will be among the highlights of this year’s centennial homecoming, a week full of events that kicks off Sunday, Oct. 25, and concludes Sunday, Nov. 1.

The milestone celebration commemorates a century of homecoming traditions that have brought generations of Aggies together while celebrating the music, culture, community and Aggie Pride that have become hallmarks of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth.

Jenkins’ selection recognizes his accomplishments in the entertainment industry, as well as his longstanding connection and contributions to North Carolina A&T.

A native of Queens, New York, who was raised in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Jenkins earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from A&T. During his time in Aggieland, he served as 2003-04 Student Government Association president and worked as a student DJ at WNAA 90.1 FM. He is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Jenkins’ experiences at A&T helped establish the foundation for a career spanning television, film, production, business and philanthropy over more than two decades. A three-time Emmy Award nominee, he gained national recognition as a host of BET’s “106 & Park” before joining “E! News” as an anchor. His hosting credits also include MTV’s “Are You the One?” and “SafeWord” on MTV and VH1, where he also served as an executive producer.

Jenkins has brought his talents to several major entertainment events, including the BET Awards, MTV Video Music Awards pre-shows and ABC’s Oscars pre-show.

His acting credits include “Think Like a Man,” “Think Like a Man Too,” “The Perfect Match,” Fox’s “Star,” MTV’s “Scream” and VH1’s “Hit the Floor.” He also starred in “A Hip Hop Family Christmas” and produced the BET+ film “North of the 10.”

Behind the camera, also Jenkins served as an executive producer of “Two Distant Strangers,” which won the Academy Award for best live action short film in 2021.

Beyond his entertainment career, Jenkins continues to explore opportunities that connect culture, entrepreneurship and financial empowerment. He serves as creative director of Invest Fest and launched the “Money Talks” podcast, available on major podcast platforms. Throughout his career, he has partnered with national brands, including Chevrolet, Walmart, Maytag and Mastercard.

Jenkins has remained committed to service and philanthropy, supporting initiatives focused on education, child welfare, health and wellness. He also continues to advocate for historically Black colleges and universities and the opportunities they provide to students and communities.
