Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds to Headline Aggie Alumni Homecoming Concert with Lalah Hathaway

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 4, 2026) – The Foundation for N.C. A&T State University Inc. will feature 13-time Grammy Award winner Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and opening act, Grammy Award-winning singer Lalah Hathaway, for the Aggie Alumni Homecoming Concert on Friday, Oct. 30, as North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University celebrates the 100^th edition of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth.

The milestone celebration commemorates a century of homecoming traditions that have brought generations of Aggies back to their alma mater.

The Aggie Alumni Homecoming Concert will be in the Guilford Ballroom at Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. Dinner for all ticket holders will begin at 7:15 p.m., followed by the concert at 8:30 p.m.

A singer, songwriter and producer, Babyface began his career in the early 1980s as a member of the R&B group The Deele before launching a successful solo career. Over the past five decades, he has released three consecutive multiplatinum albums: “Tender Lover” (1989), featuring the No. 1 title track; “For the Cool in You” (1993), which included “Never Keeping Secrets” and “When Can I See You”; and “The Day” (1996), featuring “Every Time I Close My Eyes.”

Throughout his career, Babyface has earned 13 Grammy Awards and received 83 Grammy nominations. He has written and produced more than 200 top 10 R&B hits and more than 50 top 10 pop hits, including 16 No. 1 songs.

Babyface is the only producer to win the Grammy Award for producer of the year four times, including three consecutive wins from 1995-97. His work has contributed to more than 800 million records sold and more than 1 billion streams. He also has won the BMI Pop Songwriter of the Year honor seven times and received the BMI Icon Award and 52 BMI Awards, as well as four American Music Awards, five Soul Train Awards and five NAACP Image Awards.

As co-founder of LaFace Records, Babyface has worked with some of the music industry’s most celebrated artists, including Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Usher and Mary J. Blige.

Hathaway, affectionately known as the “First Daughter of Soul,” is the opening performer for the Aggie Alumni Concert. The daughter of legendary soul singer Donny Hathaway, she has built a celebrated career blending R&B, soul and jazz.

Hathaway rose to prominence with her self-titled debut album, “Lalah Hathaway,” released in 1990. Her best-known songs include “Heaven Knows,” “Forever, for Always, for Love” and “Angel.” A multiple Grammy Award winner, she has been recognized for collaborations with artists including Snarky Puppy and Robert Glasper, as well as for her distinctive solo work.

The Aggie Alumni Concert is part of A&T’s weeklong celebration of the 100^th edition of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth, which begins Sunday, Oct. 25, and continues through Sunday, Nov. 1.

A priority ticket purchase period will open Wednesday, Sept. 16, for Chancellor’s Circle donors who contributed $2,500 or more during Fiscal Year 2026 (July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026).
