EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Dec. 4, 2025) – An experienced higher education communicator with significant service at both life sciences and historically Black university campuses has been named director of University Communications for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
Jamesia Harrison, who most recently served as senior director of Marketing and Communications for Shaw University, began work at North Carolina A&T this week.
In her new role, Harrison will oversee internal communications, publications, graphic design and photography and provide executive-level support for senior leadership. She manages a three-person team within the Office of University Relations, as well as external contractors.
Harrison joins a university whose success is accelerating in undergraduate and graduate enrollment, research and impact in the Piedmont Triad and North Carolina economies. That success is driving further growth in brand awareness and appreciation for A&T. Surveys from Gallup and ADV Market Research yielded some of the highest alumni affinity scores of any U.S. university, while 2025 listings from LinkedIn and the Wall Street Journal rank A&T No. 1 among all public historically Black colleges and universities.
Prior to her work at Shaw, Harrison was assistant director of News and Media Relations at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Atlanta, director of Strategic Communications for the City of College Park, Georgia, community liaison for United Methodist Family Services in Lynchburg, Virginia, and communications project manager for Central Virginia Community College, also in Lynchburg.
Harrison is a 2006 graduate of A&T, where she earned a B.S. in journalism and mass communications. She also earned an M.S. in integrated marketing from Walden University.
