EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 15, 2020) – The College of Science and Technology (CoST) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University selected 26 incoming freshmen to join the second cohort of SciTech Scholars for the 2020-21 academic school year. The SciTech Scholars Enrichment Program provides two-year renewable merit- and need-based scholarships to high school seniors who plan to study chemistry, physics, mathematics or electronics technology.

SciTech Scholars Summer Bridge Program

“We are very excited to welcome and support our newest cohort members who aspire to develop novel technologies and make scientific discoveries that solve global issues,” said Angela White, Ph.D., CoST assistant dean of student success.

The program aims to increase the inclusion of underrepresented students in these areas and ensure success through academic and professional programming, including participation in a one-week summer bridge program, a residential learning community and workshops throughout the school year.

Last school year, the first cohort toured Cisco Systems and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, interacted with technology-focused companies, and participated in community-engaged learning experiences with elementary, middle and high school students. They will serve as mentors for the incoming cohort.
