EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Nov. 30, 2023) – The sounds of the holiday season will fill the air as the University Choir at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University presents its annual Christmas concert, under the direction of Maestro Travis W. Alexander. This year's performance will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Ave.
This is the 10th consecutive year that First Baptist Church will host the annual Christmas Concert, offering a place where N.C. A&T and the surrounding community gather to enjoy festive sounds for the holidays.
“We are excited to bring our community together once again for a joyous celebration of the holidays through music," said Alexander. “This Christmas Concert took a great deal of preparation and dedication from our choir members.”
The University Choir is known for its versatility, performing a wide range of compositions for mixed voices. They have performed throughout the eastern United States leaving them with a reputation that extends beyond regional and national exposure. Locally, the choir has shared the stage with partners including the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and the Greensboro Opera Company.
This year’s Christmas concert will feature INSPIRO, the Triad's newest youth choir, directed by Baker Lawrimore. Students in grades 9-12 sing high-quality choral music and focus on “building a community that is fully welcoming and accessible to all,” said Lawrimore.
The Christmas concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Travis Alexander, University Choir director, at 336-334-7179.
