EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 21, 2021) – The professional sales program offered by North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics is rated among the best for 2021, according to the Sales Education Foundation (SEF).

The program is included in the 15th Anniversary Edition, “Professional Sales: Past, Present and Future,” of the 2021 Annual magazine presented by SEF, a nonprofit supporting university-level sales education programs.

SEF included North Carolina A&T based on the Deese College’s strong marketing and professional sales curriculum and experiential learning components. The Deese College Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management offers a B.S. in marketing, a B.S. in marketing with a sales concentration and a B.S. in supply chain management.

The professional sales program and marketing faculty focus on promoting professional selling, developing students for successful careers, and conducting research that advances the field of sales and sales management.

“Each semester we infuse a variety of experiential learning opportunities into our classes and beyond,” said Joseph Huscroft Jr., Ph.D., chair of the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, this type of experience continued as our students in the intro to sales course made cold calls to prospects for a live client.”

“Our goal is to have students become comfortable with being uncomfortable because that is how growth occurs,” said Kimberly McNeil, Ph.D., associate professor of marketing.

Marketing faculty members also support several student sales teams that participate in collegiate competitions across the country throughout the year.

Additionally, the Deese College develops and maintains corporate partnerships that provide students with further practical instruction and engagement.

Graduates are recruited and hired by top companies such as 3M, Altria, AT&T, Cisco and Synchrony Financial, among many others.

“We value our corporate partners as they enrich our students’ experiences through interactive classroom visits tailored specifically to our sales curriculum,” said McNeil. “The level of intentional engagement with our corporate partners and ongoing efforts of professional development continue to feed the growth and development of our students and our program.”

The Deese College has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International since 1979, when it became the first university in the Piedmont-Triad area to earn the organization’s prestigious stamp of quality. U.S. News & World Report also consistently ranks the Deese College among the best business schools in the country.
