Federal Budgetary and Legislative Priorities

  1. Support of North Carolina A&T's Centers of Excellence:
  • Cybersecurity
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Agriculture
    • (Partially funded in new Farm Bill: •$10 million a year to support three (3) new HBCU Centers of Excellence to address agricultural workforce development, nutrition and food security, economic development, and emerging technologies. The location will be determined by a competitive grant process through the USDA.)
    • Protect and Increase USDA NIFA Funding (Evans-Allen and Cooperative Extension)
      (Note: Disparity in funding levels between 1862 and 1890 land-grants despite the mission being the same.)
  1. Increased collaboration/support from federal agencies, including Department of Defense, Department of Commerce, Department of Labor, NASA, the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 
  2. Protect and Increase all-year Pell Grant
  3. Protect TRIO Programs
  4. Protect Federal Loan Programs and Graduate Work Study
  5. Protect Title III Funding
    • (Increase HBGI Funding which supports graduate students)
