JOMC Advisory Board
According to the Board’s Charter, the JOMC Advisory Board will assist in furthering the work of the JOMC department. Scope of their work will involve, but not limited to, offering insights and advice to the department chair regarding programs and policies; furthering the work of the academic unit through philanthropy and engagement with the faculty and students; and serving as ambassadors for the university as well as the department.
Meet the Advisory Board Members
Anzio Williams is Executive Vice President of Talent, Strategic Initiatives, and Team Impact for NBCUniversal Local, a division that includes 11 NBC- and 31 Telemundo-owned stations, four regional sports networks, three national multicast networks, and other local, regional, and digital properties. He develops strategies that support local storytelling, strengthen collaboration and inclusivity, and cultivate talent through professional growth and leadership development programs.
A broadcast professional with more than 30 years of experience, Williams has held leadership roles across TV stations nationwide, mentoring journalists and guiding news teams. Before his current role, he served eight years as Vice President of News for NBC10 / WCAU and Telemundo 62 / WWSI in Philadelphia, overseeing the stations’ move to the Comcast Technology Center, launching WWSI, and managing coverage of major events including the 2020 social justice protests, the Eagles’ 2018 Super Bowl win, Hurricane Sandy, and Pope Francis’s visit.
Earlier, Williams spent 12 years with Hearst Television, serving as News Director at KCRA in Sacramento and WDSU in New Orleans, leading coverage of Hurricane Katrina and recovery efforts, and held leadership roles at NBC and FOX affiliates in Orlando, Charlotte, Cincinnati, and Miami.
Williams has received eleven Emmy Awards and was part of teams honored with six Edward R. Murrow and two George Foster Peabody Awards. He is active in the Central Florida Association of Black Journalists, National Association of Black Journalists, National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Asian American Journalists Association, NBCUniversal Local’s Multiplicity Council, and serves on multiple boards, including The Carol Kneeland Project, Temple University’s Center for Ethics, North Carolina A&T State University’s Board of Visitors, and NYU’s Ed Bradley Journalism Fellowship.
He earned a degree in Broadcast News from North Carolina A&T State University and an MBA from Temple University’s Fox School of Business.
Bervette Carree is the Vice President of News at ABC11/WTVD, the ABC Owned Television station in Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville, North Carolina. She oversees the daily broadcast, digital and streaming news operations in three newsrooms, serving more than one million households across 23 counties. Carree is an award-winning journalist with more than 20 years’ experience. She has held multiple executive producer and producer positions in top markets, including Atlanta, GA, and Philadelphia, PA. She is a proud HBCU and magna cum laude graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, NC.
B.J. Evans serves as Vice President of Basketball Communications for the Cleveland Cavaliers, overseeing all media relations and strategic communications for players, coaches, and front office personnel. Evans also directs engagement initiatives that elevate the franchise’s National profile.
Prior to Cleveland, Evans held senior positions with the Charlotte Bobcats, Miami Heat, and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Recognized for his leadership and impact across the NBA, his career also includes Sports Information stints at N.C. A&T and the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. Evans also held a management role during the inaugural debut of beach volleyball at the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Brittany Dandy is a Senior Integrated Producer and entrepreneur whose career spans journalism, advertising, and wellness innovation. A graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, she began as a journalist before leading creative production for major brands and global agencies, specializing in digital storytelling, brand strategy, and cross-platform campaigns.
As founder of Ode to Us Wellness—a femtech and lifestyle company improving the perinatal experience for Black women and all women of color—Brittany combines media expertise with purpose-driven entrepreneurship. Her company has been featured in Sweet July and HelloBeautiful, exploring health, technology, and culture through design and storytelling.
Committed to mentorship and advancing women professionals, Brittany has hosted programs at Google and Samsung with leaders including TIME magazine’s CMO Sade Muhammad, filmmaker Tanya Lewis Lee, and Ivy McGregor of BeyGOOD. Her work has appeared in Ebony, Black Enterprise, and MTV.
Brittany brings a multidisciplinary perspective grounded in journalism, start-up culture, and brand innovation, with a passion for preparing the next generation of communicators to create impactful stories.
Corey J. Savage, ‘02, is dynamic a leader in talent engagement and strategy, serving as Manager of Talent Acquisition Outreach & Engagement at The Walt Disney Company. He leads Disney on the Yard, the company’s initiative to engage Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and develops strategies that attract talent while supporting Disney’s business goals. Working across brands like ESPN and National Geographic, Corey builds partnerships with HBCUs, mission-aligned organizations, and national partners to expand talent pipelines, strengthen workforce development, and increase brand visibility.
With over 20 years in higher education and the nonprofit sector, Corey has created programs, forged strategic partnerships, and championed pathways for underrepresented students. Before Disney, he held leadership roles at North Carolina Central University, Hampton University, and the Tom Joyner Foundation, securing millions in scholarships and expanding access to internships and full-time roles through Fortune 500 collaborations.
A North Carolina A&T State University graduate with a B.S. in Public Relations, Corey is pursuing his MBA at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Based in Durham, N.C., he volunteers with Caring House, collects and builds LEGO creations, and serves on the North Carolina A&T Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Advisory Board, connecting industry and education to support the next generation of leaders.
Erin Cagler serves as a Client Success and Sales Operations Planner at Spectrum Reach, the advertising division of Spectrum. A proud graduate of A&T’s JOMC Department concentrating in Public Relations, she brings over seven years of experience spanning boutique media agencies and global technology leaders such as Google and Oracle. She is passionate about using her voice to empower students and create equitable pathways within media, technology, and communications. Erin continues to advance this mission through her work with Spectrum, the Queen City Aggies Alumni Chapter, and the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC). In her leisure time, she enjoys music, podcasts, reading, and exploring her passions in digital content and design.

Kelsey Armstrong, ‘14, is the Associate Director of Student Life Communications at Elon University, leading marketing and communication strategies for the Division of Student Life. Since 2022, she has advanced social media engagement, storytelling, and divisional branding while supporting HealthEU’s holistic wellness messaging. An innovative strategist, she specializes in brand storytelling, social media management, and content analytics, drawing on experience at Gelia marketing agency and North Carolina A&T State University. Kelsey holds a Ph.D. in Communication from Liberty University, a master’s in communication from Syracuse University, and a bachelor’s in journalism and mass communication from North Carolina A&T.
Kristin Thompson is a senior communications associate at JPMorganChase. In this role, she leads communications for the bank's local public affairs campaigns in Ohio and Chicago, amplifying the firm's role in driving economic impact in each priority market.
Kristin is a proud graduate of the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and currently resides in Northern Virginia.
Entering his 20th season with the organization in 2025–26, Seth Bennett serves as Chief Marketing Officer for Hornets Sports & Entertainment. In this role, he leads the organization’s marketing strategy and brand identity, while overseeing areas including advertising, campaigns and activations, creative services, youth programs, fan development, event and game presentation, retail, special projects, and team ambassadors. He is also responsible for scheduling out-of-market games across the Carolinas.
Bennett, who joined the franchise in September 2006, was a key leader in the 2014 rebranding to the Charlotte Hornets, managing all aspects of the process on a day-to-day basis. He also led and supported activations for the 2015 Global Games in China, the 2019 NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte, and the 2020 Global Game in Paris. In 2016, he played a central role in launching the team’s G League franchise, the Greensboro Swarm. He previously managed the Swarm’s business operations and served as an alternate member of the G League Board of Governors. Over the years, he has also held responsibilities in partnership marketing, communications, broadcast partner management, digital and social media, remote training camp sites, and arena marketing.
With more than 30 years of experience in sports and entertainment, Bennett was the owner and founding principal of The Event Authority. Through this venture, he produced more than 400 live events for college and high school athletic programs and entertainment entities, including nine HBCU Football Classics, the Jordan Brand Classic high school basketball all-star game, the HoopTee Celebrity Golf Classic, and corporate entertainment for the PGA Tour FBR Open in Phoenix. He also spent eight years working in NCAA Division I athletics.
Bennett earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from North Carolina A&T State University in 1993, where he also played football for the Aggies. He currently serves on the PBS North Carolina Board of Trustees, the African American Leadership Academy Charlotte Governance Board, and the First Tee of Greater Charlotte Board. He formerly served on the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance Board of Trustees, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas Board of Directors, the North Carolina A&T State University Board of Visitors, and the University of North Carolina Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute Board of Advisors.
Shannon McKnight is a nonprofit fundraising consultant who has served the sector for over eighteen years. Her passion for the under-served has led her to champion and raise funds for several nonprofit missives, including workforce development, early childhood education, youth programming, food insecurity and services for adjudicated individuals. Her professional grant proposal writing, and fund development initiatives have raised well over $4.5 million throughout the scope of her career.
Shannon is a proud graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications/liberal studies. She currently serves as the Executive Director of NBA legend, Muggsy Bogues’ Family Foundation.
McKnight is a member of the Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists, Association of Fundraising Professionals – Charlotte Chapter, and the Public Relations Society of America. McKnight was selected to participate in the Inaugural Non-Profit Leadership Class hosted by Crumley Roberts, was named one of 50 Emerging Nonprofit Leaders across the country by the Bank of America
Neighborhood Builders Grant Program, and earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Wake Forest University-Charlotte Center. Shannon was named one of Charlotte’s Forty Over 40 for her community leadership and inducted into the 8th edition of Who’s Who in Black America- Charlotte. Shannon is a proud graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications/liberal studies. She currently serves as the Executive Director of NBA legend, Muggsy Bogues’ Family Foundation.
