The Department of Applied Engineering Technology at N.C. A&T traces its history back to the Trade Program in the School of Mechanical Arts in 1929.  The Trade Program became the Technical Institute in 1951. Ten years later, the institute became the School of Industries. In 1967, the Department of Industrial Technology was established to offer a 4-year B.S. program in Industrial Technology with four concentrations: Construction, Electricity and Electronics, Engine Power, and Manufacturing. The department became the Department of Manufacturing Systems in 1989 in the School of Technology. The name of the department was changed to Department of Applied Engineering Technology in 2010. The following table shows the history of the AET department at N.C. A&T.

1929

The School of Mechanical Arts was established. The department traces its history back to the Trade Program in Mechanical Arts.

1951

The Technical Institute was formed from the Trade Program. Price Hall was dedicated to house the Institute.

1961

The Technical Institute became the School of Industries.

1967
