Minimum Requirements:

  • Student must have and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or greater.
  • Student must have an attempted hour/earned hour completion rate of 80 percent: Unless the student is a double major or a transfer student, he/she should not have attempted more than 126 hours.
  • Student must be enrolled full-time (undergrad-12 hrs, graduate-9 hrs) in the current session to be eligible for employment. (For summer sessions, if not enrolled in a summer session you must be registered for the upcoming fall semester).
  • Student must have a good judicial standing as determined by the University's Student Conduct Office.
  • Student must submit a current academic schedule.
  • Student must submit a completed application for employment. 
  • Student must submit an unofficial transcript.
  • Student must submit a typed resume.

STUDENT CENTER JOB POSITIONS

Information Desk

The Information Desk Attendant serves as a primary point of contact for customers in the Student Center and is responsible for all aspects of customer-service throughout the facility. They serve as the first point of contact and are tasked with guiding individuals to their destinations, answering inquiries, and offering excellent customer service. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Knowledgeable of Student Center policies, procedures, and operations of Student Center facilities
  • Knowledgeable of the emergency procedures and the ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately
  • Greets various visitors and prospective students by providing directions to various departments within the Student Center and to other various locations around the campus community.
  • Demonstrates exemplary and friendly customer service when corresponding to various types of inquiries either by phone, email, or in person.
  • Receive lost and found items and place them safely in storage.
  • Appropriately answers questions about the Student Center and University in its entirety
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Event Set Up

The Event Setup Staff is responsible for preparing and organizing event spaces for scheduled functions and ensuring that all equipment (such as tables, chairs, staging, etc) are in place before the event begins. They work closely with event coordinators, vendors, and other staff members to ensure that the venue is ready for use and meets the client's expectations. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Knowledgeable of Student Center policies, procedures, and operations of Student Center facilities
  • Knowledgeable of the emergency procedures and the ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately
  • Execute proper task prioritization to meet consistent and deadlines for multiple events a day that could be occurring simultaneously
  • Understand how to read basic diagrams of room set-ups and be able to set-up the space according to the appropriate diagram selected by the guests
  • Deconstruct room set-ups after events have concluded and moves all Student Center owned furnishings into the proper storage locations within the complex
  • Ensure the room is clean and orderly by reporting out to Essential Staff any tasks that need to be completed
  • Alert supervisors to any facility damage, potential emergency situation, or misconduct
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Recreation Room Attendant

The Recreation Room Attendant is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the recreation room, ensuring that the pool and ping pong tables, along with other amenities, are properly maintained, clean, and accessible to guests. The Attendant provides a welcoming and engaging environment, ensuring guests enjoy a safe and enjoyable experience while using the recreation facilities.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Knowledgeable of Student Center policies, procedures, and operations of Student Center facilities
  • Knowledgable of the emergency procedures and the ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately.
  • Demonstrates exemplary and friendly customer service when inquiries are made
  • Alert supervisors to any damages, potential emergency situation, or misconduct
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Building Monitor

The Building Monitor is responsible for working collaborating with area managers and administrative staff by overseeing the safety, security, and functionality of the Student Union Center during operating hours. This role serves as an additive point of contact and overseer to ensure the facility remains a welcoming, inclusive, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and guests.  Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities: 

  • Patrolling the Student Center to include lobby common areas, stairwells, exterior and interior entrances/exits, and other areas within or immediately around surrounding the facility
  • Provide general customer service support, including answering questions, giving directions, and assisting students and visitors.
  • Report security concerns, suspicious behavior, or emergencies to campus security or relevant authorities.
  • Assist with opening and/or closing procedures
  • While on patrol Building Monitors should check and report damages, unlocked doors, unusual activities, unauthorized events/large gatherings, emergency conditions, alcohol violations, drug violations, and/or other violations of university policy/student handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Student Area Manager

The Student Area Manager performs administrative duties include, but not limited to staff scheduling, recordkeeping, and overseeing areas supervised. Organize paperwork as needed to create employee attendance reports. Create and maintain overall schedule for student employees in service areas.  Organize the interview process for new hires. Conduct training with new employees to discuss departmental policies and procedures. Assist with benchmarking, assessments, etc.   

Responsibilities: 

  • Knowledgeable of Student Center policies, procedures, and operations of Student Center facilities
  • Conduct disciplinary actions and performance feedback of student employees and maintain responsibility for the performance and conduct of student employees
  • Effectively communicate with facility staff (essential staff, student staff, administrative staff and outside departments or retail areas) to ensure all areas
  • Knowledgeable of the emergency procedures and the ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately
  • Report security concerns, suspicious behavior, or emergencies to campus security or relevant authorities.
  •       Perform other related duties as assigned

Student Social Media & Marketing Coordinator

The Student Social Media & Marketing Team is tasked with developing and implementing strategies to market department services and amenities. Managing and creating content for Studnet Center social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, etc.). Create and coordinate schedules for information tables at university related fairs and events on behalf of the department. Coordinate video marketing projects for Student Center marketing. Coordinate monthly awareness information tables. Plan, implement, execute, and market annual Student Appreciation Week. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Knowledgeable of Student Center policies, procedures, and operations of Student Center facility
  • Create engaging and relevant content to promote awareness of the Student Center services, amenities, and opportunities.
  • Research social media trends and engagement strategies within social media platforms.
  • Create and maintain a social media calendar
  • Document and promote student employee engagement
  • Create flyers and/or postings for Student Center leisure programs and tournaments
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Facility Manager

The Facility Manager serves as a primary point of contact for customers using the Student Center and is responsible for all aspects of customer service throughout the facility. Staff will also complete the required paperwork, assist with answering calls, vehicle usage, marketing Student Center activities, and maintain the Recreation Room as needed.This position serves as the building representative in lieu of full-time staff to assist, supervise, and coordinate the overall operation of the facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable of Student Center policies, procedures, and operations of Student Center facility
  • Perform supervisory duties in the absence of the professional staff, and reporting situations that may require attention
  • Expected to conduct rounds of the facility consistently during shift to ensure the upkeep and operation to include, but not limited to, common areas, restrooms, and event spaces, etc. 
  • Secure the Student Center facilitiy by maintaining constant awareness of users of the facility, providing access and/or securing spaces within the facility when necessary, assist with opening and/or closing the building
  • Effectively communicate with facility staff (essential staff, student staff, administrative staff and outside departments or retail areas) to ensure all areas are clean and well-kept
  • Maintain a willingness to assist facility users in any reasonable request, including last minute changes, and coordinates activities with other Facility staff
  • Knowledgeable of the emergency procedures and the ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately.
  • Report security concerns, suspicious behavior, or emergencies to campus security or relevant authorities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
