S.I.S.T.E.R.S.
S.I.S.T.E.R.S. (Students Inspiring Success Through Education Retention and Service) is a two-year retention-focused mentoring program designed to promote overall academic and social development in female students at North Carolina A&T.
Target Population:
First-year female students entering the university as a NC resident, and attended the SISTERS Summer of Success Program through the Aggie Success Academy Summer Bridge Program within the Center for Academic Excellence.
Summer Program Overview:
- Take 2 required general education courses earning 6 credit hours.
- Receive one-on-one tutoring with a Certified Learning Specialist.
- Attend weekly Writing Workshops to strengthen their writing abilities.
- Participate in a variety of workshops promoting personal and professional development.
- Participate in social activities that promote relationship building and a sense of belonging.
- Have the opportunity to build a network of NC A&T Faculty, Staff, and Alumni.
- Freshman Members will be assigned a Peer Mentor from the S.I.S.T.E.R.S sophomore cohort.
Fall Program Overview:
- Members will attend monthly meetings/workshops to enhance personal growth and development.
- Members will be housed together in the same residence hall for their first year.
- Members will also take College Success (FRST-101) as a cohort.
- Students will participate in various campus and community events to enrich their college experience.
- Freshman Members will be assigned a Peer Mentor from the S.I.S.T.E.R.S upperclass student cohort.
