Physician Assistant Studies

Part of the John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Studies, the Department of Physician Assistant Studies is leading in an area of intensive need and growth: The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects about 12,800 PA job openings a year over the coming decade.

Approved for development by the UNC System Board of Governors on Oct. 19, 2022, the North Carolina A&T State University PA Studies Program has applied for Accreditation Provisional from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). North Carolina A&T State University anticipates matriculating its first class in the fall 2025 semester, pending the achievement of Accreditation-Provisional status.

Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plan and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appears to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding accreditation-provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first cohort of students.

The North Carolina A&T State University PA Studies will not commence in the event that provisional accreditation is not received, and the enrollment deposit will be refunded in full.

Program Outcomes:

Data for first-time PANCE Performance and Attrition Rates will be available upon graduation of the first cohort.
