Welcome to Computational Data Science and Engineering

Recent and significant advances in computing hardware, software, and computational methods have opened new avenues to business, governments and academia to tackle challenging problems combining big data, big computation, and big systems.

The Department of Computational Data Science and Engineering (CDSE) offers degrees in

These programs combine core expertise and research in data science and engineering, high-performance computing, and modeling, simulation, design, and visualization approaches to complex systems arising in various applications.

We admit into our programs students with backgrounds from a great variety of disciplines ranging from the basic sciences (like physics and biology) to engineering, mathematics, and business and economics join the MS and PhD programs.  Bring your passion for the computing-enabled pursuit of knowledge and acquire state-of-the-art skills that are necessary in the big-data, big-computation, and analytics era.

We are committed to fostering interdisciplinary and computing-enabled research and to preparing students to work effectively in innovative environments.  Our students can study and conduct research with a large number of core and contributing faculty across campus.

Join us in the Computational Data Science and Engineering Department and have access to state-of-the art computing and visualization laboratories including a Cray supercomputer and a Mechdyne 20-foot 3D immersive visualization, and conduct research under the supervision of more than 40 affiliated faculty from CSE and 15 other departments across campus.
