Bio

Dr. Kellee D. Watkins is an assistant professor at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and serves as coordinator of the Master of Arts in Teaching Program for the Elementary Education. She earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Livingstone College, M.Ed. in Reading, Language, and Literacy K-12 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After working as an elementary school teacher and while working as an academic coach, she received her Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with a dissertation on implementing reading standards and new reading programs in a Title I school.

Research Interests

Her research interests include English Language Arts and Reading Education, Curriculum Standards, Teacher Professional Development and Coaching, and Equity Education. She is passionate about working with teachers in culturally and linguistically diverse school settings, and with parents and families to best meet the needs of diverse students.
