Bio
Dr. Swinton taught Spanish for eighteen years in a PK-12 environment. She appreciates the opportunity to travel professionally to various parts of the United States of America and to several countries around the globe. Dr. Swinton has conducted workshops and given presentations on best teaching practices, as well as on diversity, equity, and inclusion and belonging in educational settings. As a part of the faculty for NC A&T, Dr. Swinton’s background allows her to facilitate a space for future educators to think critically about how their individual experiences and teaching practices can lead them to become transformative contributors to a global society. Dr. Swinton co-facilitates the TRUE (Transformative Rural Urban Exchange) sponsored by the College of Education. She also serves on the Master’s of Arts in Teaching Coordinators committee, the Supporting our Students Committee, and is a Faculty Senator for the Department of Educator Preparation.
