Bio

I am a Teacher-Scholar educating the new generation of engineers and technologists to be agents of change toward a sustainable future. I have a diverse background and a multidisciplinary education. I am originally from Cali, Colombia but relocated to the island of Puerto Rico at a young age.
My formal education consists of:
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Control Systems and a certification in Project Management from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez,
• Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering with a concentration in Industrial Automation Systems at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, and
• Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where I focused my research on the Sustainability Analysis of new technologies.

Research Interests

Engineering Education methods and implementations.
Recyclability and Circular Economy.
Sustainability for Operations.
Innovation for Sustainability.
