Current Projects

The HBCU Health Equity Data Consortium (HEDC) received funding from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to partner with the North Carolina Division of Public Health (NCDPH) in developing a statewide workforce plan for public health data science roles. Building on initial data collection and strategic planning, the partnership will implement and evaluate targeted training programs. This contract aims to strengthen North Carolina’s public health data science workforce by assessing capacity needs and expanding training opportunities.

The Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Health Equity Data Consortium (HEDC) aims to leverage the collective expertise and resources of its member institutions to improve public health outcomes and reduce disparities in underserved communities. Sustaining the Consortium’s impact requires each partner institution to maintain a strong and supportive infrastructure. With funding from the Kate B. Reynolds Foundation, the HBCU HEDC is establishing dedicated office space at each participating institution, implementing a robust data storage system, and supporting faculty and other key personnel engaged in consortium initiatives. These efforts complement the full-time executive director, project manager, and business manager based at the central hub.
