Department of History and Political Science

Whether your interests lie in understanding the stories and events of the past or the governmental systems and political activity today, the Department of History and Political Science has rich and diverse study and degree options for you. Our faculty will help foster your aspirations and goals, spur your intellectual curiosity and lead you in preparation for a successful career. Departmental courses are designed to develop skills in written and oral communication, ethical reasoning, critical thinking, intercultural and global awareness, and scholarly research. The department’s rigorous curriculum promotes the development of reason, an understanding of the past and reflective inquiry to inspire informed, engaged citizens.

What We Offer


History

We offer undergraduate degrees in History and History Education as well as minors in History, Military Leadership, and African American/African History. Our graduate program offers Master of Arts in Teaching degree. In addition to history courses, we offer courses in geography.

 

Political Science

We offer an undergraduate degree in Political Science, and a minor in Political Science. We also offer our students the opportunity to become engaged in social and political activities such as those carried out by the A&T Four on Feb. 1, 1960. As well as opportunities for our students to become engaged in international activities such as the Model United Nations
