Small Farms Field Day 2025 Meets Farmers’ Needs With Presentations, Demonstrations

A group of people stands on an elevated platform inside a livestock handling facility, listening to a man in a blue shirt and cap who is giving a presentation. Behind metal railings, cattle are visible in holding pens. The setting appears to be educational, with participants observing and taking notes. University Farm Dairy Unit Coordinator Corey Burgess explains how to check for mastitis in cows during a 2025 Small Farms Field Day session.

Small Farms Field Day 2025 brought together farmers, researchers, and educators for a day of practical demonstrations and knowledge-sharing at N.C. A&T. From sustainable horticulture and hoop house livestock management to seed giveaways and critical first aid training, the event highlighted solutions tailored to the real challenges facing small farmers.
