Visiting and Non-Degree Seeking Students
Visiting and non-degree seeking students — those who are not working toward a degree at N.C. A&T State University — are welcome to apply for courses during fall, spring and summer sessions without being formally admitted to the university. This includes students from other schools who are home for the summer and want to take classes at N.C. A&T.
Important dates
March 13, 2023: Will start accepting Fall 2023 applications
May 15, 2023: Deadline for Summer I 2023 applications
June 22, 2023: Deadline for Summer II 2023 applications
Aug. 1, 2023: Deadline for Fall 2023 applications
Oct. 3, 2023: Will start accepting Spring 2024 applications
Dec. 14, 2023: Deadline for Spring 2024 applications
To apply, follow these steps:
- Create an account in the Extended Campus admissions portal and complete the online application for admission.
- Pay a non-refundable $45 application fee (see Home for the Summer waiver information below to see if you qualify). You cannot be registered or courses added until the application fee is paid.
Registration confirmation will be emailed as soon as applications are processed. Please allow 1 to 2 business days, not including University holidays, for processing. For additional information, contact Extended Campus at 336-334-7810 or extendedcampus@ncat.edu.
Note: All visiting and non-degree seeking students will be charged main campus tuition and fees.
Students who have earned a bachelor’s or graduate degree and would like to enroll in graduate level courses or certificate programs should contact The Graduate College for more information at 336-285-2366 or email grad@ncat.edu.
Immunization documents are required for on-campus classes.
Home for the Summer application fee waiver
The Home for the Summer program waives the $45 application fee of the first 50 validated students who register for summer classes at N.C. A&T State University. Students are eligible if all the following conditions are met:
- The student is returning home to permanent residence in Guilford County for the summer.
- The student is enrolled in a university outside of Guilford County during the spring semester of the current year.
- The Home for the Summer Waiver section is attached to the application.
How to find available classes
To see what classes are being offered and if seats are available, follow these steps:
- Visit the Class Schedule.
- Under Search by Term, select the term (Fall, Spring, Summer I, etc.) you wish to take classes during, then Submit.
- Select the subject for which you wish to find classes, along with any other options that you want to filter by, then hit the Class Search button. The search will return all available classes that match your parameters.
- To see how many open seats are left for a class:
In the search results, click on the name of the class you are interested in. This will bring up detailed class information, including the student capacity and number of available seats remaining.
Financial aid is not available for visiting or non-degree seeking students. For information about payment, contact the Treasurer’s Office.
Visiting and non-degree seeking students with or without a bachelor’s degree who want to take undergraduate courses will be charged the appropriate undergraduate tuition rate.
