Special Donor Giving Pages/Campaigns
Purpose
Special donor giving pages provide a temporary, focused way for donors to support a specific initiative, tribute, or event while ensuring alignment with institutional fundraising practices.
When Special Giving Pages May Be Created
Special giving pages may be approved for the following purposes:
- Institutional Milestones or Leadership Events
Examples:
- Chancellor or presidential installations
- University anniversaries
- Major institutional celebrations
Typical Active Period:
60–90 days surrounding the event.
- Memorial or Tribute Giving
Examples:
- Gifts in memory of a deceased alum, faculty member, or community leader
- Celebration of life contributions supporting a scholarship or program
- Tribute gifts honoring retirement or milestone achievements
Typical Active Period:
90–180 days depending on circumstances.
- Special Initiatives or Short-Term Campaigns
Examples:
- Student emergency funds
- Program-specific fundraising initiatives
- Matching gift or challenge campaigns
Typical Active Period:
30–90 days.
- Event-Based Fundraising
Examples:
- Reunion giving campaigns
- Benefit or charitable events
- Affinity group or chapter fundraising initiatives
Typical Active Period:
Through the event date and up to 30 days afterward.
Request Process
Requests must be submitted to the Leadership and Annual Giving team at least 30 business days prior to launch and should include:
- Purpose of the page
- Fund designation receiving gifts
- Start and end date
- Associated event or initiative
- Contact person for the request
All pages require approval by Advancement leadership to ensure alignment with institutional fundraising priorities.
Page Retirement
At the conclusion of the approved timeframe:
- The giving page will be deactivated or removed from public access.
- Donations will continue to be accepted through the standard institutional giving portal under the designated fund.
Extensions may be granted upon request.

Special Giving Page Decision Tree
Use this guide to determine if a special giving page should be created.
Step 1: Is the fundraising effort tied to a specific event, tribute, or campaign?
- Yes → Continue to Step 2
- No → Use the standard giving page
Step 2: Does the initiative have a defined timeframe?
Examples:
- Installation event
- Memorial tribute
- Giving challenge
- Reunion campaign
- Yes → Continue to Step 3
- No → Use an existing fund designation on the main giving page
Step 3: Will the page help donors easily identify where their gift should go?
Examples:
- Memorial scholarship fund
- Event-specific campaign
- Time-sensitive fundraising effort
- Yes → Request a Special Giving Page
- No → Use the standard institutional giving page
Step 4: Does the request include a clear start and end date?
- Yes → Submit request to Advancement Services
- No → Request additional details before submission
