Aggie Crowdfund FAQ

Purpose

Aggie Crowdfund is an online platform that harnesses the power of the community to help North Carolina A&T students, faculty, and staff raise money to fuel their passions, innovations, and ideas. It allows students to become leaders and fosters a philanthropic community across campus.  

Who can submit Crowdfund project applications? 

Anyone on campus can apply to Aggie Crowdfund, provided that they are officially affiliated with an academic unit. Aggie Crowdfund welcomes applications from faculty, staff and student teams with at least six members. 

When are Launch applications due? 

The application window is always open, however, projects launch in unison twice a year (January and August). Applications for the following semester must be submitted within two weeks of the start of each semester. Please contact Kry-Sheena Stevens at kistevens@ncat.edu if you have missed the deadline. 

Who decides that a project will be added to Aggie Crowdfund? 

An Aggie Crowdfund panel comprised of teams and volunteers within University Advancement. This panel will review Aggie Crowdfund applications and approve them based on project essentials: team commitment, project appeal and goal achievement potential. If you unsure about whether or not your project is suitable for launch, please email Kry-Sheena Stevens at kistevens@ncat.edu. 

How do groups access the funds they raise? 

All projects will keep any funds raised even if the goal isn’t achieved. Funds will only be deposited in University Foundation accounts. North Carolina A&T staff will work with project team leaders and, where appropriate, establish appropriate accounts and to ensure a proper University disbursement authority is in place. 

What is an appropriate funding goal for projects? 

Aggie Crowdfund recommends a fundraising goal of between $2,500 and $10,000. We will consider each project's goal on a case-by-case basis.

All donation levels are in USD. 

If you are experiencing donation issues, please make sure the address that you are entering matches the address that is on file for that credit or debit card. 

Is my payment secure? 

Absolutely. UNC Charlotte utilizes a validated Level 1 Service Provider called Braintree that is compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).  The payment application utilizes the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol and tokenization to encrypt your credit card information and securely process your donation. 

Will my Aggie Crowdfund project gift be tax-deductible? 

Contributions to Aggie Crowdfund projects support specific areas of North Carolina A&T and are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Can I send a gift by mail or phone? 

Yes. Gifts to Aggie Crowdfund projects may be submitted via phone to 704-687-7211. You may also mail with a check made out to The Foundation of North Carolina A&T State University, 200 N. Benbow Road, Greensboro, NC  27411.  Please include the following in the memo line: Crowdfunding- (name of project). 

Can my employer match my gift to Aggie Crowdfund?  

Yes! To see if your employer has a matching gift program, CLICK HERE (ADD THE LINK). You may also choose to visit your company's web site to submit your form online. Contact your Human Resources Department for more information.

Will I receive a receipt for my contribution?  

Yes. You will receive a receipt for your contribution via email shortly after you make your gift. If you mail your contribution, you will received a receipt via mail. 

When will my credit card be charged?  

Your credit card is charged immediately upon finalizing your gift on the site. 

How do I make a gift of securities? 

Donating appreciated securities, including stocks or bonds, is an easy and tax-effective way for you to make a gift to North Carolina A&T. If you would like to learn more about this option or notify us of your plan to make a gift of stock to North Carolina A&T, please contact Bridgett Herring Williams at bhwilliams@ncat.edu or 336.285.3074. 

Are international donations accepted? 

You may give via credit card on our Aggie Crowdfund page or you may mail your U.S. check (made payable to the Foundation of North Carolina A&T State University to:
