Bio

Deana Melton is an Associate Professor in the Sport Science & Fitness Management degree program at NC A&T. Dr. Melton holds current certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine (Certified Exercise Physiologist; EP-C), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist; CSCS), and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (Primary Group Exercise Instructor). The courses she teaches are geared to prepare students to sit for certification examinations from the above organizations.

Research Interests

1. Strengthening the Background Knowledge, Skills, and ultimately, Credentials, of Fitness Leaders Through Research-Based Theory and Practice 2. Addressing the Decrease in Physical Activity and Rise in Obesity Rates Among Diverse Americans that Lead To Negative Health Outcomes
