John Park is currently an Assistant Professor at NC A&T and holds a Visiting Professorship at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory of the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Park’s current research includes distributionally robust optimization-based active sensing for a wide range of federal and state government sponsors, including the National Science Foundation, USDOT, and the U.S. Department of Energy. He is a member of TRB’s Subcommittee for the Emerging Technologies in Network Modelling (ADB30).

Research Interests

Awarded Patent "Transportation Infrastructure Location and Redeployment“, USPTO, USSN 16/254,474. Dr. Park teaches in multiple departments which feature cross-listed transportation classes for modeling, visualization, optimization, and simulation of transportation systems, demand modeling, and network models. He has worked with the UDOT ITS JPO’s Professional Capacity Building Program to build training products to help improve existing resources, interact with public and private agencies to understand and collaborate on ITS training and education. His industry contributions include organizing conferences, and performing journal reviews. His professional accomplishments include 1 awarded patent, 1 pending patent, 2 book chapters, 13 peer-reviewed journal articles, and 60 peer-reviewed. He serves as PI or Co-PI on 15 research projects totaling over $3.3M.
