Dr. Soonok An is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work and Sociology at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Dr. An’s research interests include health disparities, intimate partner violence, diversity and inclusion, and program evaluation. Specifically, her research aims at eliminating barriers to accessing health and social services among marginalized populations at the intersection of race, gender, and class. Dr. An has published her research findings in her areas of expertise, in journals such as Research on Social Work Practice, Violence and Victims, Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, and Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health. Currently, Dr. An is developing an intervention program called Helping Undergraduates Grow in Relationships (HUG-R). Its goal is to promote undergraduate students’ understanding of healthy relationships and thereby to prevent them from engaging in dating violence.
