Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics

Department of Economics

The Department of Economics offers three campus-based undergraduate degree programs: Economics, Economics (Business Concentration), and Economics (Law Concentration).

  • The Economics degree program has a core set of economics courses but also includes 27 free elective hours (9 courses) that allow students to minor in another field or create a personal set of courses supporting a particular area of interest (e.g. data analytics, journalism, public policy, mathematics, etc.).
  • The Economics (Business Concentration) degree program has the same core set of economics courses as the Economics degree program but includes a variety of “business” courses in finance, accounting, marketing, and management, along with two free electives.
  • The Economics (Law Concentration) degree program, which is one of only a handful in the country, has the same core set of economics courses as the Economics degree program but includes a variety of philosophy, communication, and business law courses, along with two free electives. This degree program is particularly well-suited for those considering a career in law.

Online Program

We are currently enrolling students for our fully online undergraduate Economics degree program. Like the campus-based Economics degree program, the online-only Economics degree program has a core set of economics courses in addition to 27 free elective hours (9 courses) allowing students to minor in another field or create a personal set of courses to support a particular area of interest (e.g. data analytics, journalism, public policy, mathematics, etc.).
