Operating Weekdays 5 am to 11:30 pm and Weekends 6 am to 11 pm

The Crossmax Purple is a shuttle route offered by GTA with buses departing every 15 minutes. Unlike other GTA routes, this shuttle provides a seamless one-seat ride without the need to transfer buses at The Depot. Operating Monday to Thursday 11 pm to 2 am

Ride Request is a nighttime transportation service that operates from 11 pm to 2 am, providing safe and convenient on-demand rides for students. The service picks up students from any location on campus and drops them off at University-owned housing locations, including Sebastian Area, Aggie Point, Preeminent Point, and University Point.

There are 19 Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) routes available in the City of Greensboro for daily transportation. These routes operate from 5:15 am to 11:30 pm every Monday to Friday. On weekends, there are 17 routes available from 6 am to 10 pm. All bus routes connect and transfer at The Depot downtown. If you are a student of N.C. A&T, you can ride the fixed route service for free by receiving and activating a code and downloading the UMO app. Otherwise, the cost of the service is $1.50 cash fare. 

GTA Information and Routes to Shopping

The J. Douglas Galyon Depot is the primary transportation center for GTA passengers and serves as a hub for Amtrak, PART, and Greyhound. It is situated at 236 East Washington St. in Greensboro, NC 27401. GTA applies a base fare of $1.50 per trip and provides complimentary transfers to local shopping destinations (specified per route). 

 

Riding Tips

  • Bicycle racks - GTA has installed bicycle racks on the front of their buses. These racks can hold up to two bicycles at a time. Passengers are responsible for loading and unloading their own bikes onto and off of the racks.
  • USB charging stations - Most buses have USB ports to top off your phones. Don't forget your charging cords! 
  • Social media - Learn about weather delays, cancellations and other important service information. Follow GTA on Twitter and Facebook @gtaheat, and Instagram @gtaheatbus.
  • Restrictions - Any food or drink brought on the bus must be in closed containers and cannot be consumed on the bus.

PART offers a variety of commuter services including direct bus route and service from the Coble Transportation Center to The Depot in Greensboro. Visit www.partnc.org/166/Route-2 for more information.  

PART provides a half-price discount on standard fares to students.
  • In order to get the half fare on PART passes, you must complete the application and submit proof by attaching a copy of photo identification card. The photo identification card must include an enrollment date/year.
  • Once enrolled, PART will update your Umo account, so you can purchase your PART passes or stored value at the discounted fare. You must register in advance of making your purchase. PART will not refund fares purchased prior to enrollment.

You must have an active Umo account before PART can activate your discount fare in Umo.

From The Depot downtown, you can connect to Greyhound bus services for buses travelling all over the country, including the beach. Schedules and fares vary so please check their website for the most current information.

From The Depot downtown, you can board any Amtrak train with northbound service to Washington, D.C. and New York City; southbound to Atlanta and New Orleans; plus connections to other destinations and stations throughout the country.

Both Lyft and Uber offer rides on demand. You can request a ride at any time 24/7, 365 days a year. Both offer budget-friendly options and are an easy way to get around.
