VisionPass scanner on the counter in Williams Dining Hall

A Faster, Hands-Free Way to Enter Williams Dining Hall

North Carolina A&T State University, Aggie OneCard Center and Aggie Dining, has introduced VisionPass, a voluntary biometric program designed to streamline access to residential dining hall. This innovative system allows students, faculty, and staff to enter dining facilities quickly and securely using facial recognition technology.

How It Works

After a simple enrollment process, participants can access Williams Dining Hall (upstairs) and charge meals to their account by standing in front of the VisionPass scanner at the cashier counter, no need to swipe an Aggie OneCard.

Frequently Asked Questions

All current N.C. A&T students, faculty, and staff with a meal plan are eligible to enroll in VisionPass, except for students on the Commuter Meal Plans: Go Plan 500 and Go Plan 1000.

  • Visit the Aggie OneCard Center (Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) to complete enrollment.

  • Have your face scanned to capture your unique biometric data.

No, VisionPass is completely voluntary. Those who prefer not to participate can continue using their Aggie OneCard or GET mobile app for dining access.

The program enhances the dining experience by reducing lines and wait times. Instead of searching for your card or opening the GET mobile app, participants can enter the dining halls quickly with just a glance at the scanner.

VisionPass is powered by IDEMIA, the same trusted biometric technology used for TSA Pre® enrollment. This touchless system ensures quick and hygienic access.

During enrollment, the scanner captures biometric data points to generate a unique identifying number—not a photo or full facial scan. This number links to your Aggie OneCard account, enabling secure and seamless entry.

  • Data security: All biometric data is anonymized and securely stored by N.C. A&T.
  • Automatic data removal: Data is deleted upon graduation, withdrawal, or by request.

Nothing beyond meal access. Your facial geometry is not stored by N.C. A&T or IDEMIA after the initial scan. Additionally, the unique number generated cannot be reverse-engineered into a facial image.

If the scanner is unavailable, you can still use your physical Aggie OneCard or the GET mobile app to access the dining hall.
