North Carolina Cooperative Innovative High School (Early College) Students
For students who expect to earn an associate’s degree from a North Carolina Early College/Cooperative Innovative High School prior to enrolling in college, you have the opportunity to reviewed as a freshman or transfer student. Below are the specific advantages and disadvantages for choosing each option. New Freshmen Review
Advantages
- Eligible to apply for New Freshmen Institutional Scholarships
- Access to First-Year Support Services (mentorship, Freshmen specific programs)
- Eligible to run for Student Government Association (SGA)-related positions within their academic classification
- New freshmen are guaranteed on-campus housing
Disadvantages
- Not being able to bring a motorized vehicle to campus your first year
- Housing availability is limited to freshman housing options ONLY
New Transfer Review
Advantages
- Access to higher loan amount based on the number of hours transferred into the University
- Students would be allowed to bring your motorized vehicle to campus
- Possible access to additional housing opportunities (single rooms, Apartment Style Living)
- Applying as a transfer student provides the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with additional information that can be taken into consideration, including less competitive high school performance measures
- Eligible to run for Student Government Association (SGA)-related positions within their academic classification
Disadvantages
- Not eligible to apply for New Freshmen Institutional Scholarships such as the Cheatham-White, Dowdy, National Alumni and any other scholarship noted for New Freshmen
- No access to First-Year Support Services (mentorship, freshman specific programs)
- First-Semester Transfers are not eligible for membership into Greek organizations during their first year on campus
