Remembering Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. '64
Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. '64 (1941- 2026)
Rev. Jesse Louis Jackson Sr. (born Jesse Louis Burns) was an American civil rights leader, Baptist minister, and politician who bridged the gap between the activist era of Martin Luther King Jr. and the modern political landscape of the United States. A two-time Democratic presidential candidate, Jackson famously expanded the American political electorate with his "Rainbow Coalition," advocating for the poor, the working class, and minorities.
And it all started at North Carolina A&T, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, served as student government president and quarterbacked the Aggie football team, creating a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.
