A Transformative Legacy

On Sept. 22, 2023, Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. announced that he would retire at the end of the 2023-24 school year. The nation’s longest-serving current chancellor of any historically Black college or university and of any UNC System institution will conclude his extraordinary tenure having served 15 years in the chief executive role.

This site provides information on various celebrations that will take place in Spring 2024 to honor Chancellor Martin and the impact he has had on our university, on the Piedmont-Triad and for higher education across our state.

The site also tells the story of his time at A&T in three acts – as a student, as a faculty member and administrator and, finally, as the first A&T alumnus ever to serve as chancellor – and offers readers the opportunity to leave their own congratulatory notes and well wishes for Chancellor Martin and First Lady Davida Martin.

Please feel free to share it with friends, family, colleagues and join in our collective effort to recognize Chancellor Martin for a job incredibly well done.
