Cybersecurity Awareness Month | CREO

Cybersecurity Awareness Month began in 2004, when the National Cybersecurity Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security set aside October to help Americans stay safer online. Back then, the advice was simple, like updating your antivirus software. Today, the month is led by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance, and it reaches people, schools, businesses, and governments around the world.

The name says it all: cybersecurity isn't just a job for IT experts. Every time we open an email, create a password, or use a new app, we make choices that affect our own safety and the safety of others. The month is a reminder that awareness is where protection starts.

Since 2020, CREO has celebrated Cybersecurity Awareness Month every October with a range of activities that bring cybersecurity awareness to our campus and community. Each year's program features researchers, faculty, and industry experts who explore the latest challenges in cybersecurity and AI. All events are open to students, researchers, and faculty across all disciplines.
