Robbie R. Morganfield, Ph.D., is a former award-winning newspaper journalist who taught journalism and mass communication at various universities prior to coming to North Carolina A&T in fall 2020. He teaches courses in newswriting, research and theory, with a specific focus on the role of race, religion and culture. He earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi, master's in public affairs journalism from The Ohio State University, and Ph.D. in journalism and public communication from University of Maryland. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Texas Christian University. He worked as a journalist at several of the nation's top newspapers, serving as a reporter, specialty editor, columnist and assistant managing editor. He was head of the mass communication department at Grambling State University just prior to joining the faculty at A&T. Research Interests

Race, religion and media; news framing and journalism history, with a focus on newspapers and black and religious press.
