2020 Spring Freshman Innovation Challenge

The College of Engineering is proud to announce the eighth Aggie Freshman Innovation Challenge, which puts "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" into "AggIE" Engineering! This year nine teams will battle in a virtual meeting room for two cash prizes in a showcase of innovation and competition.

The competition will take place Wednesday, April 29 from 4:15PM-7:15PM. The faculty mentors are professors Vernal Alford, Tameka Coley and Leotis Parrish.

Chris Brooks is a proud Aggie and a 1993 graduate of the Mechanical Engineering program. Chris is currently the Vice President and General Manager for Ametek’s Engineered Medical Components division and lives in Eden Prairie, MN. Chris truly enjoys giving back to A&T with his time, talent and treasure in any way possible.

Joe Egan is focused on customer engagement product strategy within Microsoft’s Business Applications team. Within Microsoft, Joe has spent time working closely with customers and partners, helping them realized the vision of digital transformation and AI. He has focused on the edge of where data and disruption meet each other to find new ways to improve people’s lives.

Sterling Leaven is an ANA Supply Chain Leader, Avionics for GE Aviation, currently located in Clearwater, Florida. In this role, he is responsible for the Avionics North America Supply Chain business to include OEM and aftermarket supply chain operations serving the US Department of Defense and numerous civil customers for aircraft and helicopter system applications.  Sterling is a native of Mebane, North Carolina and attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2004. While with GE, Sterling graduated with his master’s degree from Penn State University in Supply Chain Management.

As a Greensboro native, Paulette attended North Carolina A&T State University where she received her BS in Computer Science and her MS in Biomedical Engineering.  Today, Paulette is a packaging engineer at P&G / Gillette’s World Shaving Headquarters in Boston, MA where she has ownership of all eCommerce packaging design and execution for new to market products, as well as responsibility for new technology development.  Paulette was nominated for a Corporate Bold Innovation award, and was recognized as a “Technical Catalyst” for enabling disruptive innovation through taking technical risks and creative thinking.
