Applying for On-Campus Housing
Aggie Housing Portal
The Aggie Housing Portal is used for students to apply for housing, view the status of the housing application, view the housing room selection tutorial, select room assignments and roommates, and view important updates about the housing process and move-in day.
Housing Process
The Aggie Housing Portal for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 will be available November 1, 2025!
Set yourself up for success by taking a few moments to review important information from N.C. A&T Housing & Residence Life regarding the housing application process, room self-selection, eligibility requirements, and other key details.
Students will be notified of their assignment through their official NCAT email account and the Aggie Housing Portal.
We encourage all students to monitor their NCAT email and the Housing Portal regularly for important updates and deadlines throughout the housing process.
Freshmen and new transfer students are required to follow these steps to ensure their housing selections:
Step 1: Students must be admitted and confirm their intent to enroll by May 1st (Please note that it takes 4-5 business days for your housing profile to be created so that you can submit your housing contract.)
Step 2: Students must register for a New Student Orientation (NSO). Please note that the housing self-selection process will occur after you have successfully completed the NSO.
Step 3: Housing applications should be completed by May 1 at 11:59 p.m. with a $175 non-refundable application fee.
Step 4: Students who decide to not attend North Carolina A&T State University may be released from their housing contract without penalty.
Step 5: Freshmen are allowed to select their room and roommate, on a first-come, first-served basis after completion of their New Student Orientation (NSO) through The Aggie Housing Portal.
Step 6: Please be aware that housing contracts submitted after May 1 are subject to be placed in temporary housing (The Drury Inn), until on-campus housing options become available.
Housing announcements are made monthly through the Housing & Residence Life website and the Housing Portal. In addition, housing applicants will also receive emails from Housing & Residence Life to their NC A&T email (username@aggies.ncat.edu).

North Carolina A&T State University continues to experience an unprecedented demand for on-campus housing. Housing & Residence Life remains committed to accommodating as many students as possible while maintaining a safe, high-quality residential experience.
For the upcoming academic year, the university will house a record 6,657 students in permanent bed spaces. This includes 3240 bed spaces designated for continuing and returning students, an increase of more than 150 spaces compared to the previous year.
Housing Availability
University housing is not guaranteed beyond your first year for new incoming fall students, or the first semester for new spring incoming students at N.C. A&T. Because the demand for housing exceeds the number of available spaces, students are encouraged to apply as early as possible during the application period.
Please note: The housing application for continuing and returning students is now closed for the upcoming academic year, as all available spaces have been filled.
Off-Campus Housing Resources
We understand that not every student seeking on-campus housing can be accommodated. To support students in securing alternative housing, Housing & Residence Life has developed a variety of resources to assist with finding off-campus accommodations and navigating the responsibilities of living off campus.
The resources below are designed to help you identify housing options, understand leasing considerations, and make informed decisions as you prepare for a successful academic year.
The Housing Self-Selection Process for Continuing and Returning Students for the 2027–2028 academic year will take place in April 2027.
Additional details, including eligibility requirements, important dates, and step-by-step instructions, will be announced during the Spring 2027 semester. Please continue to monitor your NCAT email and the Aggie Housing Portal for updates and important announcements from Housing & Residence Life.
