This is a call for proposals for the Health Disparities Symposium Spring 2022, please see the details below:
  • Focus of the event: Using multidisciplinary approaches to examine the relationships between social problems and comorbidities. We are seeking work that spans from the bench to the bedside, to community action.
  • Intended audience: faculty, staff, and students from institutions throughout North Carolina, diabetes related professionals in the community and other interested stakeholders. We encourage proposal submissions from members of the academic, practical, and religious perspectives throughout the symposium.
  • Interested participants are asked to Submit presentations and/or panel ideas following the guidelines below.

Guidelines
Presentations: In 45‐minute sessions presenter(s) share research insights in virtual presentations. Presenters should plan to engage the audience and address specific ideas and strategies to help attendees apply research insights to their teaching, research, health
care and/or self‐care. All regular presentation submissions should include: (a) title, (b) name, affiliation, and contact information for the presenter and (c) an abstract. Abstracts should be approximately 300‐400 words (max. 400 words) and briefly detail the purpose of the presentation and how/why it fits the theme of this year’s symposium.
Panel Discussions: In 45‐minute sessions presenters will have informed discussions around specific topics relevant to the symposium themes.
All panel discussion proposals must include a short abstract (max. 400 words) detailing the theme of the proposed session. Additionally, you must include full details for all the included participants (see number 1 above). This includes the presider and organizer, in addition to the presenters or panelists. All panel sessions should include 3‐5 presenters.

Scientific Posters: Participants will create posters for live streaming using PowerPoint slides. Poster presentations will take place in Zoom breakout rooms and will be recorded. You may submit abstracts for inclusion in a poster session. All poster submissions should include: (a) the title (b) names, affiliations, and contact information for each author, and (c) a brief abstract. Posters should display relevant objectives, theory, methods, results, and conclusions in a way that is accessible and visually appealing.
