Interested in the overlap of ethics and machine Learning? Join Dr. Jay Lofstead to look at the impact of Machine Learning (ML) on daily life, from job opportunities to loans and medical diagnoses. Also, discuss the ethics involved with Learning Language models such as ChatGPT.

Dr. Lofstead, a Principal Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories, specializes in simulation and engineering workflows, focusing on IO, middleware, storage and software engineering. He co-founded the IO500 storage list and actively supports student mentoring and diversity programs. Jay holds a BS, MS, and PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and received a 2013 R&D 100 award for his work on the ADIOS IO library.
