Visiting Exchange Students

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T) has a student population of more than 12,000, making it the largest historically black university in the United States. A comprehensive university offering degree programs at the baccalaureate, master's and doctoral levels, it has one of three engineering schools in the University of North Carolina System. N.C. A&T has one of only two schools of agriculture in North Carolina.

Deadlines

Exchange students applications must be submitted through the Exchange Coordinator on your campus. Applications must be received by the following deadlines:

  • March 31st for Fall Semester (August-December)
  • October 15th for Spring Semester (January-May)

Room and Board

All exchange students will stay in Aggie Village in the Honors/Global Living-Learning Community. You will live in a standard double and share a space with one other person. You will complete the housing application once you arrive at N.C. A&T, and will pay the $150.00 housing deposit on arrival.

All Exchange Students will have Meal Plan A, which consists of 19 meals per week in the cafeteria plus $100.00 flex dollars to be used at any on-campus restaurant. Keep in mind that all students living on campus must have a meal plan.

Health

It is very important that you review the Student Health Center website for immunizations required for North Carolina. Please bring a copy of your immunization records with you to N.C. A&T. Any immunizations that you do not have a record or proof of will need to be re-taken upon arrival. Please be prepared to pay for any immunizations for which you do not have a record or proof.

Student Health Insurance

Students are required to purchase the Student Blue insurance for international students. ISEP students are waived from purchasing the Student Blue insurance, as you are required to purchase ISEP health insurance. Plan to pay the insurance for the semester when you arrive on campus.

Prior to your departure, please contact our office at oia@ncat.edu with the exact date and time of your arrival. When making travel plans you should allow enough time for both air travel and ground transportation in order to arrive during regular office hours, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
