About Us

The Office of Veteran and Disability Support Services (OVDSS) is an integral unit of the Division of Student Affairs. We guide and direct our students by providing and promoting events and services that increase their skills used to enhance intellectual, cognitive, social, personal and physical competencies. The office also works with students, faculty, and staff to promote the students’ independence to ensure recognition of their abilities for total development. Through its existence, the office has encouraged, nurtured, educated, supported, inspired and comforted many students. Our services are designed for the different faces that come with the many different challenges of everyday student life.  The staff members of the OVDSS team are here to meet these challenges.

Brief History

This office was officially opened in the 1960s as a Veteran Affairs office. As time went by and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 was passed, the office then became known as Veterans and Handicapped Student Affairs. It kept that name until about 1993 when it became known as the Office of Veteran and Disability Support Services.

Launch of Aggie V.E.T.S. Center

Lieutenant Colonel Joshua T. Jones

While the plan for the Aggie V.E.T.S. Center has been in development by OVDSS, it is LTC (R) Jones’ leadership that has made it a reality. Student veteran and veteran dependents will have a safe gathering space they can call their own where they can learn about all of the opportunities and services available to them.
