NBCUniversal Establishes Multi-year Partnership with JOMC

NBCUniversal has extended a partnership with the department of journalism and mass communication (JOMC) at North Carolina A&T State University to further develop initiatives to direct graduates of historically black colleges and universities into media careers.

On April 24, the last day of the department’s annual Media Week celebration, representatives from NBCUniversal including executive vice president and chief diversity officer Craig Robinson, Sal Mendoza, vice president of diversity and inclusion, James Seldric Blocker, talent acquisition lead-campus programs and N.C. A&T alumnus Anzio Williams, vice president of news at NBC10 in Philadelphia joined alumnus, television host and actor Terrence Jenkins to celebrate, Terrence J Day, to announce the partnership.

“We are proud to join Terrence on this special day and continue our partnership with N.C. A&T State, which help prepare and equip students with the necessary tools to succeed in the competitive media industry,” Robinson said.

In March, NBCUniversal established a partnership with JOMC in which the media giant donated $50,000 to JOMC to sponsor the department’s annual National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Multimedia Short Course. NBCUniversity will continue that partnership with the university for four years as well as provide internship opportunities and recruitment opportunities in the areas of news, research, TV programming and public relations to JOMC students via its program, Campus 2 Career.

NBCUniversal is recognized as one of the industry’s leaders in developing new talent and pursuing comprehensive, multiyear plans to recruit, retain and develop diverse employees and executives in every area of its business.

Jenkins spent the day on campus engaging with students, faculty, staff and donors after announcing a $100,000 endowment for the department.

“The reason why I have the career I have is because of the four years I spent here,” Jenkins said in his announcement.
