New Vice Chancellor for University Advancement Named

Kenneth E. Sigmon, Jr., has been named vice chancellor for university advancement at North Carolina A&T. His appointment is effective January 1.

For the past three years, Sigmon has been vice president of development for the Oklahoma State University Foundation. In that role, he has led a $1 billion capital campaign that reached its goal 18 months early.

“As a university built on a proud history and rich traditions, I am honored to be working under the leadership of Chancellor Martin, along with the Board of Trustees, the university team, and all of its alumni, volunteers and supporters to ensure it has an equally bright future under the strategic vision of Preeminence 2020.”

He will serve as A&T’s chief fund-raising officer, responsible for leading the offices of Development, Alumni Relations and Advancement Services. He will report to the chancellor.

Sigmon has 18 years’ experience in fund raising at all levels, planning and execution of capital campaigns, and building teams of professional and volunteer fund-raisers.

He previously served as the chief development officer for North Carolina State University, executive director of the North Carolina Textile Foundation at N.C. State, and deputy executive director and chief operating officer of the Citadel Foundation in Charleston, S.C.

Before joining The Citadel, he served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Merrill Lynch and Roadway Services, a global logistics and transportation firm.

He is a graduate of The Citadel with a bachelor of science in business administration and a master’s of business administration.
