The North Carolina A&T State University team for the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge quiz bowl team fought its way through a field of 48 teams down to the Elite Eight where they lost to defending champion, Florida A&M University.

The Aggies competed in the 23rd Annual Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National Championship Tournament, March 31st -April 3rd in Torrance, Cali. The teams gathered to compete for up to $50,000 in grants for their respective colleges and universities.

This competition is sponsored by American Honda Motor Corporation, The National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO), and the Association of College Unions International (ACUI). The competition centers on a quiz-bowl style game, pitting two teams against each other. Questions vary in subjects including African American history and literature, science, business & industry, fine arts, sports, geography, American & World History, and pop culture.

This year’s team included:

• Franklin Foster (Captain), a junior psychology major from Atlanta
• Mitchell Brown, a senior history major from Fredericksburg, Va.
• Macey Morgan, a junior computer science major from Nashville, N.C.
• Megan Morgan, a junior computer science major from Nashville, N.C.

Timothy Foster served as the team’s coach while Nichole Florence was the campus coordinator.

Due to the team’s advancement to the Elite Eight round of play and Brown scoring the most points within the team’s division, the Aggies received a total of $10, 500 in grant funds.
