North Carolina A&T State University and The American Heart Association, will partner to sponsor a “Go Red for Women” day on February 13, as part of the Go Red for women campaign for women living with heart disease.   The activities include a walk, health fair and nutrition expo and pep rally.  In addition, A&T Chancellor, Harold L. Martin Sr., will prepare a heart healthy dish. See schedule of activities below:

  • 6:30 – 7:30 a.m. - Go Red for Women heart walk  -  Campus Recreation Center -

    201 N. Benbow Rd.

  • 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. – Go Red for Women Health Fair and Nutrition Expo - Memorial Student Union

  • 1 - 2 p.m. – Chancellor Martin  prepares a  heart healthy dish -  Memorial  Student Union –  Stallings Ballroom  A

  • 5 p.m.  -  Go Red for Women Pep Rally - Memorial Student Union

All activities are free and open to the public.  The N.C. A&T vs. Savannah State University basketball game at 6 p.m., will be designated as the Go Red for Women Basketball Game (there is a cost game). 
Sponsors for the event include Costco, Earthfare, Godiva Chocolates, Guilford County Health Department – Tobacco Free Colleges, Lowes Foods, Medtronic Inc, Moses Cone Health System, Red Mango and Smitty’s McDonald’s.  A&T sponsors include Alumni Gate City Chapter, Auxiliary Services, Campus Recreation Center, Cooperative Extension, Department of Athletics, Department of Biology, Counseling Services, Family and Consumer Sciences, Department of Human Performance and Leisure Studies, Department of Research, Housing and Residence Life, Office of the Chancellor, School of Nursing and Student Health Advisory Council.
Heart disease claims the lives of nearly 500,000 women each year. Statistics indicate that one out of four women have some form cardiovascular disease.
