N.C. A&T University Farm Hosts Small Farms Field Day June 14

GREENSBORO, N.C. (June 5, 2018) – Cooperative Extension at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will hold Small Farms Field Day, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at the university farm located at 3136 McConnell Road. Small Farms Field Day is an annual free event that showcases research and demonstration projects that help small and limited-resource farmers increase their profits.

In addition to farm tours, the day will feature numerous poster presentations and demonstrations, including:

  • The Opportunity for Bamboo Production in North Carolina
  • Industrial Hemp: Fertilization and Harvestable Yield Research into CBD Varieties
  • Ginger: How to Grow It, Add Value & Profit
  • Equipment and Small Machines for Small Farms
  • Raising Resilient Goats
  • Beef Cattle: Productivity and Income
  • Heir Property Issues
  • Food Safety Modernization Act: What You Need to Know
  • Characteristics of Cookies Made with Grape Seeds and Skins
  • Onion Peel: Reducing Obesity and Inflammation
  • Low-Fat Fried Foods and Human Health
  • Reducing Ammonia from Poultry Litter in Broiler Chicken Houses
  • Beans, Beets and Budgets: Making Money Growing Organic Mixed Vegetables 

The event will be held rain or shine and includes lunch.
