Help Those Affected This Week by Tornadoes and Severe Weather

N.C. A&T employees and students are encouraged to support the effort by donating items of major need to a campus relief drive. Items may be dropped off at Moore Gym Suite 120. Items of particular need include:

  • Bottled water
  • Toiletries
  • Non-perishable food items that do not need to be cooked
  • Socks
  • Baby supplies
  • Basic medical supplies (bandaids, antiseptic wipes, etc.)
  • School supplies (pencils, notebooks, notebook paper, etc.)

On Friday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., donated items will be loaded into campus shuttle buses at the Deese Clock Tower and then transported to the Tornado Disaster Resource Center at Willow Oaks Community Center at 1815 Everitt St. for distribution. The “shuttle pack” will be similar to the Winter Wishes in Aggieland event last fall, when the campus community donated holiday gifts for more than 200 foster children in Guilford County.

Volunteers are critical for Friday’s collection as well as ongoing neighborhood cleanup activities in areas where downed trees, damaged homes and buildings and other debris need to be cleared.

Those interested in volunteering to pack and unpack shuttle buses are asked to sign-up online and meet at the Deese Clock Tower, 8:30 a.m., Friday, April 20. More volunteer options for cleanup will be forthcoming.
