Academic Advising Conference Set for May 14 at North Carolina A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 19, 2018) – With recognition growing across the country about the critical role of advising in college student success, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will host its third-annual North Carolina Academic Advising Conference on Monday, May 14, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All sessions will be held in the Academic Classroom Building on the North Carolina A&T campus.

“Advising to Win: Innovative Strategies that Inspire Student Success” is open to academic advisors, other staff and faculty interested in professional development and networking opportunities with other professionals. It is expected to draw attendees from across North Carolina, as well as neighboring states.

The conference will feature presentations from professionals across the University of North Carolina and North Carolina Community College systems. Workshops have been designed to encourage both dialogue and collaboration regarding best practices and innovation around academic advising strategies.

Organizers have also issued a call for additional papers and presentations, with a deadline of April 13. All proposals should be sent to cae@ncat.edu.

In keeping with the conference theme, keynote speakers will be the duo behind North Carolina A&T’s 2017 black college football national championship team, former Head Coach Rod Broadway and Intercollegiate Athletics Director Earl M. Hilton III. Broadway was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Football Coach of the Year last fall, one of many honors he and his team earned for their historic, undefeated season.
